Calcium: The tortoises are dependent on calcium for strong and proper development of skeletal systems and other body tissues. Calcium also helps in the blood clotting process and in the transmission of nervous impulses across the cell membranes.

Magnesium: They need adequate amount of magnesium for their bodies to achieve homeostasis, creation and utilization of energy, proper function and development of the skeletal system.

Of Course! Fig leaves can be given to your tortoise. They are rich in calcium, vitamin A and other nutrients. They also do not have any side effects and can be fed to your tortoise as and when you like.


• Always wash the leaves before giving them to your pet. This will ensure that harmful microorganisms are removed from the leaves. Figs may contain harmful bacteria such as E.Coli, Rhizopus etc. which can cause serious infections in tortoises and thus make them ill for a long time.

Plums: Plums are probably one the most exotic fruits that you can give to your tortoise. Plums are rich in fiber and low in fat, making them tasty and healthy.

Peaches: Just like the banana and plum, peaches are also very tasty and healthy for tortoises.

Grapes: They have lots of fiber and will help strengthen your tortoise’s immune system, keeping them healthy and strong.

Strawberries: They are very tasty and taste sweet, while they also have a lot of vitamins and minerals that your tortoise needs.
